On 27 June, the Tomar Local Health Unit performed glaucoma surgery for the first time using the innovative iTrack Advance device. The procedure, an ab-internal canaloplasty, was conducted with great success and was supported by GoldFarma.
The Ophthalmology team at ULS Tomar is to be congratulated! On 27 June, glaucoma surgery was performed with great success by Drª Ana Carla Matos and Drª Joana Mendes Pereira, who used the innovative iTrack Advance device for the first time.
Ab-interno canaloplasty is a unique technique that unblocks and viscodilates Schlem's canal, restoring the outflow of aqueous humour, which is essential in the treatment of glaucoma.
With the new iTrack Advance devicethe medical teams have highlighted the remarkable ease and efficiency with which surgeries are carried out, raising the quality standards in ophthalmological procedures.
Accompanying these surgeries were Tanja Mettepenningen (an international specialist from Nova Eye), along with Goldfarma's technical experts, Vasco Pinto and Fernando Melo.
