CureSight: the new revolutionary solution for treating children amblyopia

19/11/2024

A recent study identified CureSight as the "gold standard" for the treatment of childhood amblyopia, highlighting the reduction in treatment time and the greater comfort provided by the device.

A recent clinical study compared the effectiveness of an innovative treatment using an Eye-Tracking system incorporated into the CureSight device, with the "gold standard" treatment for amblyopia: occlusion with an occlusive dressing, often associated with social stigma.

The study included children aged between 4 and 9 years old, diagnosed with amblyopia. We present some of the study's conclusions:

1. Proven Efficacy: CureSight proved to be as effective as the occlusive dressing, with superior results in cases with high adhesion, showing an additional improvement of 0.05 logMAR.

2. Adherence to Treatment: Adherence to CureSight was significantly higher (94%) compared to the occlusive dressing (84%), a crucial factor for the successful treatment of amblyopia.

3. CureSight Advantages

  • Shorter treatment duration: CureSight requires half the wearing time (120h) compared to the occlusive dressing (224h), with equal or better results;
  • Greater comfort: The device offers less intrusive treatment, which increases acceptance by both children and parents, making it more convenient for families;
  • Focus on binocular function: The study emphasises the importance of treatments that promote binocular interaction, rather than occlusion of the dominant eye.

4. The Parents satisfaction:93% of parents were satisfied with CureSight, and 91% would prefer this method to using an occlusive dressing to treat their child's amblyopia.

CureSight presents itself as an effective and less invasive alternative in the treatment of amblyopia, demonstrating greater patient compliance and satisfaction. These findings could have a significant impact on the choice of treatment in children, offering a modern and potentially more effective approach, while improving patients' quality of life and facilitating compliance with treatment.
